Your Baby’s First Christmas is a special occasion and, no doubt, one that will be remembered by special gifts and many, many photographs. It is a time when treasured family memories are incorporated into modern traditions and heirlooms are brought out of the safety of their moth-proof boxes for all to enjoy.
In our family, for example, we enjoy hanging up my childhood stocking that was made by a relative. My mother made delicious coleslaw that we thought tasted extra good when served in my grandma’s special round “coleslaw dish” with the little ball legs.
Baby’s First Christmas can Last
Baby’s first Christmas is here and gone in 24 short hours. But, with a little preparation, you can make it last for all time. We all save the clothing our babies wore on their first trip home from the hospital and their first pair of shoes. Our family has preserved a Christening dress that is over 80 years old and worn by many generations of our babies. So, why not snuggle your baby up on that first Christmas in a handmade crocheted blanket that you can save as a Family Heirloom? All my blankets cam be washed and dried in the machine for easy care and a long life. Check in the above menu on how to preserve your blanket.
My Etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/GranniSquares specializes in hand-crocheted baby blankets and there are many ready to snuggle the babies you love. However, since it takes about two weeks to make each one, I started early to create beautiful blankets for the Christmas baby. There is a limited supply and only one of each design. So, please come over to take a look and, if you see something you like, please think about purchasing it now so you can be sure it will be yours for Baby’s First Christmas. And, know that you are gifting the new parents their first Family Heirloom.

In addition to those pictured above, there are two blankets that are specifically made for a baby girl or boy. They both have red included in the granny squares and a playful “snowball-inspired” border in red. But each one has pink or blue included in the granny squares. The color red is a bit more subtle if you’re a believer in pink for girls and blue for boys person.
